Conspiratio is neither an academic journal nor a popular magazine. Each issue of the periodical comprises essays, thematic articles, book reviews, and occasional translations of texts on or by Illich. All that appears in its pages typifies what Illich called “research by people”, which names disciplined studies conducted by those attempting to beautify their own lives by being less dependent, in thought and deed, on the market and the state. For this reason, research by people is open to public debate and contestation. Though conducted through the medium of the written word, the periodical invokes the hoped-for intimacy of con-spiration.

The publication encourages contributions from everyone wanting to participate in thinking with Ivan Illich. All contributions are expected to reveal a degree of familiarity with Illich’s thought and to engage it in a thoughtful way. All are free to submit essays, book reviews, or translations for publication.
